English as a tool of communication

English as a tool of communication is learned as the basic function as a communication language. We do not learn the theory of the language but the function of the language.

Context 01: Friendly seller often welcomes the visitors.
Seller:   Welcome, sir. Anything I can for you?
Buyer : Lotek one, please.
Seller:   Hot or medium?
Buyer: Medium, please.
Seller:   Packed or enjoyed here?
Buyer: Enjoyed here.
Seller:   Drink?
Buyer: What you have?
Seller:   Tea, lemon….iced and hot.
Buyer: Hot tea, please.
Seller:   All right, wait a second.

Context 02: Seller sometimes does not welcome the visitors. Visitors often start the conversation.
Buyer: Bu, May I have a plate of lotek?
Seller:   Sure. Hot or medium?
Buyer: Hot, please.
Seller:   Drink?
Buyer: Do you have Soda Gembira?
Seller:   Unfortunately, not. We just have tea or lemon.
Buyer: Lemon, then.
Seller:   Iced or hot?
Buyer: Hot please.
Seller:   Wait a minute, sir.

Discussion:
What can we infer from the two examples above? Is it communicative? Yes. Why? The seller and the buyer can understand each other. The understanding between communicants is the objective of communication.  The further question is “Is English difficult?”  The answer is “Absolutely not.” How can the speakers understand each other easily?” It is what so called context based communication.

But, is it English?  Surely, it IS. How can we master it? Easy. Practice, observe the vocabulary, the phrases used in special context and learn the most frequent pattern used in the context. Now, let’s learn it carefully.
